This page describes how transactional SMS works on the DeweyIQ platform — who is sending the message, how a recipient opts in, what gets sent, and how to opt out. DeweyIQ is a product of Coastal Bay Digital LLC.
At a glance
- DeweyIQ is the software platform; the message is sent on behalf of your pool service company. The pool company is the sender.
- Recipients opt in through their pool service company — at service intake, verbally at signup, or via the customer portal.
- Reply STOP to any message to opt out immediately. Reply HELP for support information.
- Mobile information is never shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.
Who is sending the message
DeweyIQ is software used by independent pool service companies to manage their routes, billing, and customer communications. When a customer receives a text from a pool service company that uses DeweyIQ, the pool company is the sender — DeweyIQ is the technology layer the message flows through. The customer relationship, consent, and any service questions are between the customer and the pool service company.
Each pool service company that uses DeweyIQ has its own branded customer portal at a subdomain of deweyiq.com (for example, bluewavepools.deweyiq.com). Outbound SMS identifies the pool company by name in the message body.
How customers opt in
A pool service company adds a customer's phone number to DeweyIQ only after the customer has consented to receive transactional SMS. There are three paths a customer can opt in:
- Service intake. When the customer signs up for service with a pool company, they sign a service agreement that includes the SMS disclosure (message types, frequency, msg & data rates may apply, how to opt out).
- Verbal at signup. When the customer signs up over the phone, the office staff member reads the disclosure aloud and records that the customer agreed.
- Customer portal.Existing customers can opt in (or out) at any time from their pool company's customer portal — the Settings page presents the disclosure language with a consent checkbox.
When a pool service company adds a customer's phone number to DeweyIQ, they attest under DeweyIQ's Terms of Service that they have obtained consent. DeweyIQ never adds, imports, or scrapes phone numbers independently of the pool service company.
What we send
Every message sent through DeweyIQ's SMS campaign is transactional — directly tied to a service the recipient has an active relationship with their pool company for. Promotional or marketing SMS is not sent via this campaign. Message types include:
- Pre-arrival alerts when the technician is on the way to a scheduled service
- Service completion confirmations with a link to the service report
- Invoice-ready notifications with a link to view and pay
- Payment receipts
- Quote approval requests with a link to review
- Weather-related rescheduling notices
Sample messages
The exact wording is set by each pool service company. Typical examples:
- Blue Wave Pools: Hi Sarah, your pool service is scheduled tomorrow Tue 5/12 between 9–11 AM. Tech: Mike. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
- Blue Wave Pools: Service complete at 142 Ocean Dr today. View report: bluewavepools.deweyiq.com Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
- Blue Wave Pools: Invoice #1043 for $185.00 is ready. Due 5/20. Pay at bluewavepools.deweyiq.com Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.
Message frequency
Frequency varies based on the recipient's service schedule. A typical weekly customer receives one or two messages per service visit (a pre-arrival alert and a completion confirmation), plus occasional billing-related messages (invoice, receipt) tied to invoicing events on their account. Recipients with a less frequent service cadence receive proportionally fewer messages.
Message and data rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on the recipient's mobile carrier and plan. Neither DeweyIQ nor the pool service company charges the recipient for the SMS itself — the carrier may.
STOP, HELP, START
DeweyIQ honors the carrier-mandated keyword set on every inbound SMS across the entire platform.
- STOP, UNSUBSCRIBE, STOPALL, QUIT, CANCEL, END — opts the recipient out immediately. All future SMS to that mobile number across every channel is blocked. The recipient receives a confirmation reply.
- HELP, INFO — returns a brief identification of the sending pool company and how to get support.
- START, UNSTOP, YES — re-enables SMS after a previous STOP.
Opt-outs are honored immediately and without requiring a reason. We log every opt-in / opt-out event with a timestamp.
Mobile information
Mobile phone numbers and SMS opt-in / opt-out events are used solely to deliver the transactional messages a pool service company has authorized. We do not share mobile information with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes. Mobile information is not sold or rented under any circumstance. The full handling of personal data, including subprocessors used for SMS delivery, is described in our Privacy Policy.
